BIAB Manicure

  • BIAB stands for Builder In A Bottle. It's a builder gel applied straight from the bottle like a polish, but with a thicker, self-levelling formula that adds real structure to the nail rather than just colour.

    At K.BeautyStudio in Dyce, Aberdeen, Kate uses The GelBottle Inc BIAB, applied directly onto your natural nail plate and cured under an LED lamp.

    Result: Unlike gel extensions, nothing is built onto a separate tip or form, so you keep your natural nail shape with extra reinforcement layered over it.

  • If your nails are naturally weak, thin or prone to breaking, BIAB gives them something gel polish alone can't, real structural support. The self-levelling formula smooths out any unevenness across the nail bed as it cures, so even naturally ridged or uneven nails come out with a glassy, even finish.

    The extra strength also supports healthy growth. Rather than breaking or splitting before they get the chance to grow out, nails reinforced with BIAB can grow longer and stronger underneath the product.

    Correct application matters with any gel-based treatment. Reactions and early lifting are most common when products aren't cured properly or applied by an inexperienced technician. Kate's ten years in the industry and full in-chair LED curing process is what keeps this treatment both long lasting and safe for your nails and the skin around them.

    1. Nails are prepped and shaped, cuticles pushed back and the nail plate lightly buffed to help the product bond.

    2. BIAB gel is brushed on directly onto the nail plate and cured under an LED lamp → The self-levelling formula smooths out ridges and uneven areas as it sets.

    3. A second thin layer is applied and cured the same way, building strength across the weakest parts of the nail, usually the free edge and sides.

    4. Any final shaping is done with a nail file once the layers are fully cured.

    5. A nourishing cuticle oil is massaged in to finish.

    6. Touch dry finish immediately, ready to go before you even leave the chair → The LED curing means no smudging or waiting around.


    What happens when I'm ready for a change?
    BIAB can be soaked off the same way as gel polish, or infilled to maintain length and strength without starting over.

    Most clients rebook for an infill every 3 to 4 weeks.
