Classic Lash Extensions
-
Classic lash extensions are one synthetic lash bonded to one of your natural lashes. That is where the name 1:1 comes from. If you have 90 natural lashes on an eye, you get up to 90 extensions.
Every natural lash is separated from its neighbours before an extension goes on it. Nothing touches your skin and no two lashes are bonded together, so each one can still shed and regrow on its own cycle.
At K.BeautyStudio in Dyce, Aberdeen you lie back with your eyes closed for the whole appointment. Most clients fall asleep.
Result? Your own lash line, longer and darker. It reads as very good mascara that never smudges, rather than as obvious lash extensions.
-
This is the set to start with. It adds length and definition without changing the character of your lashes, so there is no adjustment period where you feel like you are wearing something.
It is also the most forgiving set to live with. Fewer extensions means less weight on each natural lash, less daily brushing than volume sets, and a lower price than fans.
The one honest limit is coverage. Classic gives you one extension per lash, so if your natural lashes are naturally sparse or have gaps, classic will follow those gaps rather than hide them. Hybrid or Russian volume fill space that classic cannot, because fans cover more area per lash.
Length, curl and thickness are chosen around your own lash strength and eye shape, not just a photo. Fine or short natural lashes will not hold a long, heavy extension, and forcing it damages the lash. Kate will tell you straight if a request will not work and offer the closest thing that will.
-
Consultation. Curl, length and thickness are agreed based on your natural lashes and eye shape.
Your lashes are cleansed with a lash shampoo to strip out oils, makeup and skincare residue → Retention lives or dies on this step.
A protective pad is placed under each eye to hold your lower lashes safely out of the way.
A primer balances the pH of the lash so the adhesive can bond properly.
One natural lash is isolated with tweezers. A single extension is dipped in a small amount of adhesive and placed around a millimetre from the skin, never on it.
This repeats lash by lash across both eyes until the set is complete → A full classic set takes around 1.5 to 2 hours.
The set is combed through, checked for evenness and any stuck lashes are separated.
The adhesive is cured with a nano mister, so it finishes setting safely in the chair rather than reacting to moisture later.
-
Your natural lashes shed on a cycle of roughly six to eight weeks, and the extension leaves with the lash it was attached to. That is normal shedding, not a fault.
Classic sets show that shedding sooner than volume sets, because one lash lost is one visible gap.
Infills replace what has shed and rebalance the set. Book every 2 to 3 weeks.
Leave it past 3 weeks and there is usually too little left to work with, so it becomes a new full set.
Removals are done with a professional gel or cream remover. Never pick or pull them off, as that takes your natural lash with it.
-
A patch test is required at least 48 hours before your first set. Cyanoacrylate, the ingredient that makes lash adhesive work, is the most common cause of reaction.
We patch test every new client, even if you have worn extensions elsewhere. Adhesives differ between salons. You will need a fresh test after 6 months, after any change to your medical history, or if we change products.
Please tell us before booking about any eye condition, recent eye surgery, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, styes, alopecia, or a previous reaction to lash adhesive.

First 24 to 48 hours.
Keep lashes dry for 24 hours. No swimming, sauna, steam or hot yoga.
Avoid steam heavy environments for 48 hours after any appointment.
Every day:
Brush them gently with a clean spoolie, 2 to 3 times a week for classic.
Cleanse with an oil free lash cleanser. Clean lashes hold extensions longer than dirty ones, which surprises most people.
No oil based cleansers, makeup removers, eye creams or serums. Oil breaks the adhesive down.
No mascara and no lash curlers.
Do not rub or tug at your eyes.
Back sleeping is best. If you sleep on your side, a silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction.
Book your infill before you need it rather than after.
