Home tweezing takes hair from where it is easy to reach rather than where it needs to go. Over time that thins the tail, drops the arch and narrows the whole brow. Mapping stops that.

The other reason is restraint. A good shape usually means removing less than you think, and keeping hair that looks stray but is actually holding the shape together. Ten years of doing this is mostly knowing what to leave alone.

1. Consultation. We talk about the shape you want and what your natural growth will realistically hold.

2. Your brows are mapped and marked so you can see the proposed shape before any hair is removed.

3. The area is cleaned and prepped.

4. Wax is applied and removed to take out the bulk of the unwanted hair, worked in small sections.

5. Tweezers are used for the detail and the finish → This is where the shape actually gets made.

6. A soothing balm is applied to calm the skin.

7. Brows are brushed through and, if booked, colour or lamination follows.

Most clients rebook every 3 to 4 weeks.

• Do not tweeze or thread for at least two weeks before. We need the hair to work with.

• Avoid retinol, acids and strong exfoliants on the area for 3 to 5 days before waxing.

• Let us know about Roaccutane, Accutane or any prescription retinoid use, currently or in the last six months. Waxing is not suitable and we will tweeze instead.

• Skin can be a little pink for an hour or two afterwards. This is normal.

• Keep the area clean and hands off for 24 hours.

• No sunbeds, sauna, steam or heavy sweating for 24 hours.

• No makeup on the brow area for 24 hours after waxing.

• Skip exfoliants and acids on the area for 48 hours.
