Gel Nail Extensions

  • Gel nail extensions add length and shape to your natural nail rather than working with what you already have.

    At K.BeautyStudio in Dyce, Aberdeen, Kate builds each extension using either BLULOU Acrylic Gel for acrylic level strength with a gel feel, or Jelly Builder Gel as a lighter alternative, sculpted onto a form and cured under an LED lamp.

    Result? Any length and shape of your choosing, your nail nail no longer remains a fixed template like in gel or BIAB manicures.

  • If you want noticeable length or a specific shape your natural nail can't hold on its own, extensions are the option that actually delivers that, unlike BIAB or gel polish, which both work with your existing nail length. The sculpted layers are filed and balanced for even thickness across the whole nail, so the finished shape sits naturally rather than looking bulky at the tip.

    Having a choice between the two gel options also means the treatment can flex to what your nails need. The acrylic gel suits anyone wanting maximum strength and hold, while the jelly builder gives a lighter, more flexible finish for people who find fuller acrylic too rigid.

    Correct application matters here as much as with any gel based treatment. Reactions and early lifting are most common when products aren't cured properly or built by an inexperienced technician. Kate's ten years in the industry and full in-chair LED curing process is what keeps the extension strong, even and safe on the nail underneath.

    1. Nails are prepped and shaped, cuticles pushed back and the nail plate lightly buffed to help the product bond.

    2. Length and shape are agreed with you before any product goes on.

    3. Gel is sculpted onto a form to build the extension shape, then cured under an LED lamp → This is what gives the extension its base structure.

    4. A second layer is added for even thickness across the nail, cured again the same way.

    5. The extension is filed and balanced to the agreed shape once fully cured.

    6. A nourishing cuticle oil is massaged in to finish.


    What happens when I'm ready for a change?
    Extensions aren't a redo but a refresh. The existing base is infilled rather than removed and rebuilt from scratch, keeping length and strength intact.

    Most clients rebook for an infill every 3 to 4 weeks.
